Rare Sex Pistols Record Fetches $23k

This rare vintage record by the English punk rock band The Sex Pistols, sold for *$23,000 on April 15, 2011. (**See auction #280655369299 on eBay)

The record was pressed on an A&M Records label in 1977, making it one of a small number of copies pressed before the group signed with Virgin Records. The records are thought to be among the most valuable in the UK.

The seller stated (in the eBay listing) they owned the record for 22 years and purchased it from Phillips of London Auction House.

The auction listing also stated; the original 10" studio sleeve and plastic cover with catalogue/lot number identification (from Phillips of London Auction House), and a letter of authenticity would be included.

Another, slightly different Sex Pistols vinyl (a two-sided (A&M) executive promo-pressing) would fetch approximately *$17,000 (USD), later in the year. See Story
