Marilyn Monroe Autograph Gets $18kPRESS RELEASE – May 8, 2011

This class photo, signed (on the back) by Marilyn Monroe at age 15, recently fetched $18,500 when it sold on eBay, on May 23rd, 2011. (See Auction) The signature included a personal message penned by the then 15 year old 'Norma Jeane Baker' (who later to become Marilyn Monroe) which said; ""To a super and swell friend (date at that) I mean it Bobby! Norma Jean Baker '41" The sellers listing stated the autograph; "may be the earliest example of a Marilyn Monroe signature known to exist." The black & white panoramic photograph featured the 1941 graduating class of Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High School. |
