October 9, 2011 - Bids reached $49,950 for this rare antique Tobacco Tin, featuring an image of baseball legend Ty Cobb, but fell short of the sellers auction reserve price (*see auction #300604945307 on eBay).
The sellers listing states the Tobacco Tin (circa 1910) was discovered during a remodel of a home they purchased in 2006. It was found behind a small hidden access located in the back of their closet.
A bidding war erupted on September 29th, almost from the moment it was listed. 50 bids drove the price from $1,000 to over $40,000 in just 2 hours. The ten-day auction ended October 9th, 2011.
